CYPRUS: THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF THE EURO, OR MASS ECONOMIC DEPRESSION?

Posted on 5:30 PM by Unknown

An article from the Daily Telegraph.

Ambrose Evans-Pritchard

Daily Telegraph March 28, 2013

It is not a bail-out. There is no debt relief for the state of Cyprus. The Diktat will push the island’s debt ratio to 120pc in short order, with a high risk of an economic death spiral, a la Grecque.

Capital controls have shattered the monetary unity of EMU. A Cypriot euro is no longer a core euro. We wait to hear the first stories of shops across Europe refusing to accept euro notes issued by Cyprus, with a G in the serial number.

The curbs are draconian. There will be a forced rollover of debt. Cheques may not be cashed. Basic cross-border trade is severely curtailed. Credit card use abroad will be limited to €5,000 (£4,200) a month. “We wonder how such capital controls could eventually be lifted with no obvious cure of the underlying problem,” said Credit Suisse.

The complicity of EU authorities in the original plan to violate insured bank savings – halted only by the revolt of the Cypriot parliament – leaves the suspicion that they will steal anybody’s money if leaders of the creditor states think it is in their immediate interest to do so. Monetary union has become a danger to property.

One can only smile at the denunciations of Eurogroup chief Jeroen Dijsselbloem for letting slip that the Cypriot package is a template for future EMU rescues, with further haircuts for “uninsured deposit holders”.

That is not the script. Cyprus is supposed to be a special case. Yet the “Dijssel Bomb” merely confirms that the creditor powers – the people who run EMU at the moment – will impose just such a policy on the rest of Club Med if push ever comes to shove. At the same time, the German bloc is lying to its own people about the real costs of holding the euro together. The accord pretends to shield the taxpayers of EMU creditor states from future losses. By seizing €5.8bn from savings accounts, it has reduced the headline figure on the EU-IMF Troika rescue to €10bn.

This is legerdemain. They have simply switched the cost of the new credit line for Cyprus to the European Central Bank. The ECB will have to offset the slow-motion bank run in Cyprus with its Emergency Liquidity Assistance (ELA), and this is likely to be a big chunk of the remaining €68bn in deposits after what has happened over the past two weeks.

Much of this will show up on the balance sheet of the Bundesbank and its peers through the ECB’s Target2 payment nexus. The money will leak out of Cyprus unless the Troika tries to encircle the island with razor wire.

“In saving €5.8bn in bail-out money, the other euro area countries will likely be on the hook for four to five times more in contingent liabilities. But, of course, the former represents real money that gives politicians a headache; the latter is monopoly central bank money,” said Marchel Alexandrovich, from Jefferies.

Chancellor Angela Merkel will do anything before the elections in September to disguise the true cost of the EMU project. It has been clear since August 2012 that she is willing let the ECB carry out bail-outs by stealth, as the lesser of evils. Such action is invisible to the German public. It does not require a vote in the Bundestag. It circumvents democracy.

Mrs Merkel can get away with this, provided Cyprus does not leave EMU and default on the Bundesbank’s Target2 claims, yet that may well happen.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 20pc fall in real GDP,” said Nobel economist Paul Krugman. “Cyprus should leave the euro. Staying in means an incredibly severe depression.”

“Nobody knows what is going to happen. The economy could go into a free fall,” said Dimitris Drakopoulos, from Nomura.

The country has just lost its core industry, a banking system with assets equal to eight times GDP, and has little to replace it with. Cyprus cannot hope to claw its way back to viability with a tourist boom because EMU membership has made it shockingly expensive. Turkey, Croatia or Egypt are all much cheaper. Manufacturing is just 7pc of GDP. The IMF says the labour cost index has risen even faster than in Greece, Spain or Italy since the late 1990s.

What saved Iceland from mass unemployment after its banks blew up – or saved Sweden and Finland in the early 1990s – was a currency devaluation that brought industries back from the dead. Iceland’s krona has fallen low enough to make it worthwhile growing tomatoes for sale in greenhouses near the Arctic Circle.

If Cyprus tries to claw back competitiveness with an “internal devaluation”, it will drive unemployment to Greek levels (27pc) and cause the economy to contract so fast that the debt ratio explodes.

The IMF’s Christine Lagarde has given her blessing to the Troika deal, claiming that the package will restore Cyprus to full health, with public debt below 100pc of GDP by 2020.

Yet the Fund has already been through this charade in Greece, and her own staff discredited the doctrine behind EMU crisis measures. It has shown that the “fiscal multiplier” is three times higher than thought for the Club Med bloc. Austerity beyond the therapeutic dose is self-defeating.

Some in Nicosia cling to the hope that Cyprus can carry on as a financial gateway for Russians and Kazakhs, as if nothing has happened. RBS says the Russians will pull what remains of their money out of Cyprus “as soon as the capital controls are lifted”.

The willingness of the Cypriot authorities last week to seize money from anybody in any bank in Cyprus – even healthy banks – was an act of state madness. We will find out over time whether this epic blunder has destroyed confidence in the country as a financial centre, or whether parts of the financial and legal services sector can rebound.

Yet surely there is no going back to the old model, even though the final package restricts the losses to the two banks that are actually in trouble. Savers above €100,000 at Laiki will lose 80pc of their money, if they get anything back. Those at the Bank of Cyprus will lose 40pc.

Thousands of small firms trying to hang on face seizure of their operating funds. One Cypriot told me that the €400,000 trading account of his father at Laiki had just been frozen, leaving him unable to pay an Egyptian firm for a consignment of shoes.

The Cyprus debacle has taught us yet again that EMU has gone off the rails, is a danger to stability, and should be dismantled before it destroys Europe’s post-War order.

Whether it marks a watershed moment in the crisis is another matter. Italy, Spain, France and Portugal have their own crises, moving to their own rhythm.

The denouement will arrive when the democracies of southern Europe conclude that recovery is a false promise and that the only way to end mass unemployment is to break free of EMU’s contractionary regime.

It will be decided by Italy, not Cyprus.

We have barricaded the front entrance and Paddys friends and neighbors kept watch at the gates overnight. This is an attack on rural Ireland, an attack on a very vulnerable 70 year old man by a foreign bank.

Open Letter To Priests of the SOCIETY of ST PIUS X.

Posted on 2:02 PM by Unknown

A letter from Bishop Richard Williamson

28 March 2013

OPEN LETTER TO PRIESTS of the SOCIETY of ST PIUS X.

Reverend and dear Fathers,

The recent publication of the Doctrinal Declaration, addressed by the General Council of the Society of St Pius X to the Church authorities in Rome on April 15 last year, confirms our worst fears. We waited for nearly a year to know what it contains. It proves once and for all that the present leadership of the Society of St Pius X means to lead it away from the direction set for it by Archbishop Lefebvre, and towards the ideas and ideals of the Second Vatican Council.

However busy you may be with the daily ministry, this is bound to concern you because it means that the souls under your care are, through you, coming under Superiors meaning to lead them and yourselves towards, even into, the great apostasy of modern times. We recall that it is Superiors who mould their subjects and not the other way around – have we not observed a number of good Society priests, one after another, giving up the fight for the Faith as we know Archbishop Lefebvre led it, and instead going with the flow, with the strong and very different current flowing for some years now from the top of the Society downwards ?

Detailed analysis will confirm the danger of each of the Declaration’s ten paragraphs, as outlined only briefly below:--

I Fidelity promised to the “Catholic Church” and to the “Roman Pontiff” can easily be misdirected today towards the Conciliar Church as such, and to the Conciliar Pontiffs. Distinctions are needed to avoid confusion.

II Acceptance of teachings of the Magisterium in accordance with Lumen Gentium # 25 can easily be understood, especially in conjunction with Rome’s 1989 Profession of Faith which is mentioned in a footnote of the Declaration, as requiring acceptance of Vatican II doctrines.

III,1 Acceptance of Vatican II teaching on the College of Bishops as contained in Lumen Gentium, chapter III, is, despite the “Nota Praevia”, a significant step towards accepting Conciliar collegiality and the democratisation of the Church.

III,2 Recognition of the Magisterium as sole authentic interpreter of Revelation runs a grave risk of submitting Tradition to the Council, especially when the interpretation of any break between them is automatically to be rejected (cf. III,5 below).

III,3 The definition of Tradition as “the living transmission of Revelation” is highly ambiguous, and its ambiguity is only confirmed by the vague words about the Church, and by the quotation from the equally ambiguous Dei Verbum #8, which follow.

III,4 The proposition that Vatican II should “throw light” on Tradition by “deepening” it and “making it more explicit”, is thoroughly Hegelian (since when did contradictories explain and not exclude one another ?), and it risks falsifying Tradition by twisting it to fit the multiple falsehoods of the Council.

III,5 The statement that the novelties of Vatican II must be interpreted in the light of Tradition, but that no interpretation implying any break between the two is acceptable, is madness (All shirts are to be blue, but any non-blue shirt must be taken to be blue !). This madness is none other than that of Benedict XVI’s “Hermeneutic of continuity”.

III,6 Giving credit to the novelties of Vatican II as being legitimate matter of theological debate is gravely to underestimate their harmfulness. They are fit only to be condemned.

III,7 The judgment that the new sacramental Rites were legitimately promulgated is gravely misleading. The New Order of Mass especially is much too harmful to the common good of the Church to be a true law.

III,8 The “promise to respect” as Church law the New Code of Canon Law is to respect a number of supposed laws directly contrary to Church doctrine.

Reverend Fathers, whoever studies these ten paragraphs in the original text can only conclude that their author or authors have given up the Archbishop’s fight for Tradition, and have gone over in their minds to Vatican II. Do you wish yourself and your flock to be moulded by such Superiors ?

Nor let it be said that the first two and last three of the ten paragraphs are broadly taken from the Archbishop’s own Protocol of May 5, 1988, so that the Declaration is faithful to him. It is well known that on May 6 he repudiated that Protocol because he himself recognized that it made too many concessions for the Society to be able to continue defending Tradition.

Another error is to say that the danger is over because the Declaration has been “withdrawn” by the Superior General. The Declaration is the poisoned fruit of what has become a liberal mind-set at the top of the Society, and that mind-set has not been recognized, let alone retracted.

A third misconception is to say that since no agreement has been signed with the apostates of Rome, then there is no further problem. The problem is less the agreement than the desire of any agreement that will grant to the Society official recognition, and that desire is still very much there. Following the whole modern world and the Conciliar Church, the Society’s leadership seems to have lost its grip on the primacy of truth, especially Catholic Truth.

Reverend Fathers, “What cannot be cured must be endured.” Blind leaders are a punishment from God. However, the least that you can do about this disastrous Declaration is to study it for yourselves with everything that led up to it, otherwise you will lose your Society without realizing it, just as the mass of Catholics lost their Church with Vatican II, and did not realize it. Then having made the disaster clear in your own mind, you must tell the truth to your Society flock, namely the danger in which your Superiors are placing their faith and therewith their eternal salvation.

To all of us in that Society which Archbishop Lefebvre made into a worldwide fortress of the Faith, Our Lord is now putting the question of John, VI, 67 : “Will you also leave me ?”

To any and all of you I gladly impart the episcopal blessing of your servant in Christ,

+Richard Williamson, Nova Friburgo, Maundy Thursday, 2013.

Holy Saturday!

Posted on 1:57 PM by Unknown

The ‘Eleison Comments’ of Bishop Richard Williamson.

Number CCXCVIII (298)

30 March 2013

HOLY SATURDAY

Holy Saturday in the life of Our Lord was that day between his appalling death on the Cross and his glorious Resurrection, when his human body, lifeless without its human soul, lay in the dark tomb, unseen to human eye. Our Lord’s enemies seemed so successfully to have crushed him that the Incarnate God was in complete eclipse, and only the faith of Our Lady in her Divine Son remained unshaken. All his other followers she had to sustain, because even the most devout of them felt bewildered and lost.

Now as being the Mystical Body of Christ, the Catholic Church follows the life’s course of his physical body. Down all its 2,000 years of history the Church has always been persecuted by the enemies of Christ, and in many parts of the world at various times it has been virtually wiped out. Yet surely it has never been going into complete eclipse like it seems to be doing today. God designed his Church as a monarchy, to be held together by the Pope, and we have just seen a Pope resigning, no doubt in part because he himself, mesmerized by modern democratic thinking, never fully believed in his own supreme office. Taking the papal tiara off his coat of arms, and signing himself always as “Bishop of Rome”, whatever were his intentions when he resigned in February, he surely helped, humanly speaking, to undermine the divine institution of the Papacy.

Certainly by Benedict XVI’s resignation and by the succeeding conclave the enemies of Christ will have been doing all they could for their part to undo the Papacy. By a just punishment of God for the universal apostasy of our age, they have received from him a great power over his Church. They have been working for centuries to get a stranglehold over the Vatican, and they are now entrenched there. With no intention of giving way to a pious little Society, they are, as Anne Catherine Emmerich saw in a vision 200 years ago, dismantling the Church stone by stone. Humanly speaking, today’s followers of Our Lord have as little seeming hope as they had on the original Holy Saturday.

But no more than Our Lord himself is the Catholic Church a merely human affair. In 1846 Our Lady of Salette said about our own times: “The righteous will suffer greatly. Their prayers, penance and their tears will rise up to Heaven, and all of God’s people will beg for forgiveness and mercy and will plead for my help and intercession. And then Jesus Christ in an act of his justice and great mercy will command his Angels to have all his enemies put to death. Suddenly the persecutors of the Church of Jesus Christ and all those given over to sin will perish, and the earth will become desert-like. And then peace will be made, and man will be reconciled with God, Jesus Christ will be served, worshipped and glorified. Charity will flourish everywhere... The Gospel will be preached everywhere... and man will live in fear of God.”

In other words, God will most certainly resurrect his Church from its present distress. When the eclipse becomes still darker, as it is sure to do, let us merely hold more closely than ever to the Mother of God, and let us resolve now not to weigh upon her then by our disbelief, as did Our Lord’s Apostles and disciples on the first Holy Saturday. Let us undertake to rejoice her Immaculate Heart with our unshakeable faith in her Divine Son and his one true Church.

Kyrie eleison.

Bye, Bye Labour!

Posted on 12:40 PM by Unknown

With less than a third of the people voting in the Meath East by-election, the major news is the implosion of the Labour party. Eoin Holmes managed to get 1,112 first preferences and came fifth. The new political service, Direct Democracy Ireland came fourth with Ben Gilroy getting 6.5 per cent of the vote. This was his first outing in an election, so a good result.

Whilst not reaching the quota Helen McEntee of Fine Gael was elected.

Utopia of Usurers

Posted on 1:20 PM by Unknown

A recommended book.

http://www.carmel-books.org/utopia-of-usurers-p-366.html

Utopia of Usurers

G. K. Chesterton

£11.95

Utopia of Usurers is Chesterton at his energetic and boisterous best, taking on the economic and cultural apostles of modern industrial capitalism.

Utopia is a collection of articles written from 1913 - 1915 for the Daily Herald, a Socialist paper which allowed Chesterton to attack Socialism as vehemently as they assumed he would attack Capitalism. What results, then, in Utopia of Usurers, is a full-scale broadside against the folly of modern economic and cultural life, in the name of humanity, sanity, justice, and charity.

Chesterton looks at all aspects of modern, Industrial Capitalism, and finds them lacking. He analyzes the effect of the Capitalist mentality on - among other things - art, culture, family life, work, and working conditions. With classic Chestertonian wit and rigorous logic, GKC points out how every single one of those aspects of daily, human life have suffered tremendously from an attitude that makes financial and material gain the desired end of life, at the expense of those higher and human values without which life is hardly worth living.

With a preface by Aidan Mackey, English Chesterton scholar of singular renown.

Born in Manchester, England, in 1922, Aidan Mackey became a devotee of Chesterton at 14 when his brother challenged him to "read something useful". He obtained therefrom a fiery passion that still dominates his life.

Along with H.D. Pepler and other notables, he founded the Distributist Association in 1947 and soon after became the editor of the journal, The Distributist, which saw publication from 1953-1960. Mackey wrote Mr. Chesterton Comes to Tea (1979); The Wisdom of GKC (1986), currently being re-edited in a new edition for the Catholic Truth Society of England; and Hilaire Belloc and His Critics (1991). He was also instrumental in the recent establishment of the G.K. Chesterton Centre at Plater College, Oxford.

Paperback. 136 pages.

More Nonsense from Noonan: Glove Puppet Of The Central Bank Usurers

Posted on 1:14 PM by Unknown

Via Namawinelake.

Last November 2012, Minister for Finance Michael Noonan made an important discovery: he, or rather one of them mandarins in his Department of Finance discovered that section 33AK of the Central Bank Act 1942 provided the Central Bank of Ireland with a confidentiality defence to requests for information about the operations of banks in Ireland. Section 33AK is in fact a vast 2,500-word section inserted into the Central Bank and Financial Services Authority of Ireland Act 2003 and it allows the Minister to blame the Central Bank when declining to provide information on bank operations. Last November 2012, in a response to a parliamentary question, Minister Noonan said

“section 33AK(1A) prohibits disclosure by the Bank, its officers, employees, and agents, of confidential information concerning-

(a)    the business of any person or body whether corporate or incorporate that has come to the person’s knowledge through the person’s office or employment with the Bank, or

(b)    any matter arising in connection with the performance of the functions of the Bank or the exercise of its powers,

where the disclosure considered would be prohibited by the Rome Treaty, the ESCB Statute or the “Supervisory Directives”, as defined in section 33AK(10).

The most relevant supervisory directive in this instance is Directive 2006/48/EC.

Title V, Chapter 1, Article 44 of Directive 2006/48/EC, for example, imposes an obligation, on “competent authorities” (of which the Central Bank is one) for the purposes of that Directive to operate on the basis of professional secrecy. While a number of pathways for release of information are provided in the Directive (for example, a competent authority may release information where necessary to “bodies involved in the liquidation and bankruptcy of credit institutions and in other similar procedures” (see Article 44)), none of these facilitate release of information in this case.” [concludes]

As far as I can see, Section 33AK had never been mentioned by Minister Noonan before November 2012, but 33AK is now routinely used by Minister Noonan to tell pesky TDs to “get lost” when they try to ask important questions about the banking sector which has to date cost us €70bn including the €6bn of state aid premiums that NAMA has paid to the banks when it acquired their loans.

A fortnight ago, Deputy Mattie McGrath – see top of this blogpost – asked seven separate parliamentary questions which boiled down to “were Bank of Ireland, Allied Irish Banks, Permanent TSB, Ulster Bank, Danske Bank, ACC Bank and KBC Bank in breach of their banking licences”. The “get lost” response from Minister Noonan was Section 33AK restricts the Central Bank in its ability “to detail specific elements of the licensing and supervision requirements of individual credit institutions”

Last Thursday in the Dail, it was used against Deputy Michael Moynihan who was asking about the pace of progress into investigations at what was Irish Nationwide Building Society. Topical stuff from the Cork Fianna Fail TD, given the recent High Court applications against five former INBS officers including Michael Fingleton and former chairman Michael Walsh, and also following the recent publication of the Tom Lyons/Richard Curran book on “Fingers” or Michael Fingleton and the manner in which INBS had been managed up to point where it ended up costing us a €5.4bn bailout.  On Thursday last, the “get lost” to Deputy Moynihan was “I have been advised that an investigation is being conducted under the Central Bank’s Administrative Sanctions Procedure into historic lending practices at INBS. I am advised that for legal reasons, including the Central Bank’s confidentiality obligations pursuant to section 33AK of the Central Bank Act 1942, no further details can presently be disclosed.”

So, let’s get this straight: we now live in a Republic where the State has significant control and ownership of the banking sector which has cost us €70bn in bailouts, and yet we permit a piece of legislation to exist which prevents the finance minister being held to account on the practices of those banks. No doubt the mandarin discoverer of Section 33AK in the Department of Finance is regularly patted on the back, but for the sake of our Republic, shouldn’t this legislation be repealed?

Remember, we found out last year that Irish Bank Resolution Corporation was in breach of its banking licence but Section 33AK was used to obstruct us finding out any more with Minister Noonan saying in February 2013 “the Central Bank of Ireland has informed me that under Section 33AK of the Central Bank Act 1942, the Bank is restricted in its ability to disclose details of the supervision of individual credit institutions, and cannot therefore provide details of any breaches of the its licensing and supervision requirements”. It is now being used to obstruct our politicians in holding this Government to account in its oversight and management of the banking sector. What shenanigans are being hidden from citizens? And from potential investors including banks thinking of setting up shop in Ireland?

Fianna Fáil and Immigration!

Posted on 5:16 AM by Unknown

Comment: Very interesting comments coming from Fianna Fáil. When Michael Collins was fighting for Ireland, Eamon de Valera was meeting the International Financiers in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. His answer to later problems was for the Irish to emigrate. Others were interned or executed.

In recent times, Dick Roche stated ''there is no reason to believe that large numbers of workers will wish to come'' (Irish Times letters 12-7-02).

It’s laughable to believe the Tory party are anti-immigration. What we are seeing in Ireland are the fruits of mass-immigration? It’s laughable if we believe Fianna Fail are anti-immigration.

Immigration has been an elephant in the room and now is being discussed openly.

http://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland/coalition-is-anti-irish-says-councillor-226487.html

Coalition is anti-Irish, says councillor

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

A senior Fianna Fáil councillor said Irish people seeking social housing were being told to “go home to mammy” while non-nationals were getting housed as soon as they “breezed” into the country.

By Jimmy Woulfe, Mid-West Correspondent

Kevin Sheahan made the remark at a Limerick County Council meeting yesterday as he called on the Government to take a lead from the Conservative party’s anti-immigration policies in the UK.

Fine Gael and Labour members stormed out of the monthly council meeting when Mr Sheahan persisted in his demand for a notice of motion to be sent to the Department of the Environment calling for an Irish-first policy to be drawn up for social housing.

He accused Fine Gael and Labour of being anti-Irish and asked: “What about Michael from Shanagolden who needs a house?”
He said: “We only do it when the English government do it. The English government have now said if you are a non-national you have to be in the country five years. But we house non-nationals straight away.

“It will become a serious mistake if it does not become a crisis. We should put our people first and I say that unapologetically.
“We should put our own people first. Our economy is tight and we can ill-afford to do anything else. We need the policy along the lines passed in England.”

A young mother who came to him for help was told to “go home to mammy” with her baby when she sought social housing, Mr Sheahan claimed. They ended up in a box room in the small family home.

The Bank Said It Was Ok!

Posted on 8:49 AM by Unknown

The sale of the PTSB Finance Ltd Loan Book was previously mentioned on Thought and Action. We share with you this post from Awaken Longford. Do share with your contacts and friends.

http://awakenlongford.wordpress.com/2013/03/21/the-banks-said-it-was-ok-question-everything/

March 21, 2013 · by austbe · in Bankster News, The Courts

With regard to the former PERMANENT TSB FINANCE LTD which we know was the subsidiary of Permanent TSB whose business was , in the main, Car Loan Facilities.

Any person who had dealings with PERMANENT TSB FINANCE LTD would have received a letter in January this year which attempted to explain the effect of the sale of the Loan Book of PERMANENT TSB FINANCE LTD to DEUTSCHE BANK last year, in this letter you would have read, and I quote:

“We write to notify you that PERMANENT TSB FINANCE LTD has sold all rights, title, interests and benefits (including all present and future amounts owing to it) in respect of your Facility and all rights relating to you Facility to CONSUMER AUTO RECEIVABLES FINANCE LIMITED with effect from the 24 December 2012″.

This letter went on state that you the consumer, did not have to do anything, simply make your payments in the normal way.

Yesterday in Longford Circuit Court, at a Registrar’s Court, which for those who are not familiar with the Courts, is a Court which arranges cases to be heard at the next sittings of Longford Circuit Court which in this case is during the last two weeks of April 2013, a case between PTSB FINANCE LTD and a local person which has been ongoing for some time was called again, the solicitor for PTSB FINANCE LTD spoke first and expressed the wish that the case be called on as PTSB FINANCE LTD was very anxious to get the case on, the “defendant’s” representative, a lay person, expressed a serious confusion based on the wording shown above and PTSB FINANCE LTD’s failure to respond to any correspondence from the “defendant” despite repeated attempt’s to communicate. The “defendants” representative expressed concern that while the “defendant” was in no better a position to proceed due to the lack of communication with the “plaintiff” than and since the last appearance at a registrar’s court in 2012, the issue is now further compounded by the fact that the “plaintiff” does not appear to have any standing in the Court by virtue of the  statement made, in absolutely unambiguous language, in the letter referred to above, in short, why are PTSB FINANCE LTD pursuing this matter as an injured party when they clearly state that they are no longer an injured party!

The “defendant” maintains that while there might well be an entity out there who allege’s they are due money on the basis of this facility, that unknown entity was not in Court!

PTSB FINANCE LTD solicitor had to ask for some time to contact the solicitor in Dublin who was dealing directly with the case for instructions, he returns some ten minutes later to inform the Court that he was no wiser as neither he nor the firm in Dublin had any instructions on how to proceed based on the matters raised by the “defendant” and as such they were not ready,(as they stated some twenty minutes earlier) to proceed! The matter has been left in the list until at least October 2013 and we shall watch this one closely!

The following is, in layman’s terms, the situation following the sale of PTSB Finance Ltd Loan Book in 2012:

The loan book was sold to DEUTSCHE BANK who set up a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) called CONSUMER AUTO RECEIVABLES LIMITED where all the loans are located now, at the same time PTSB FINANCE LTD sold the business platform of PTSB FINANCE LTD to the former Managers of PTSB FINANCE LTD and they set up a new company called FIRST CITIZEN FINANCE LTD who were then appointed as the “servicer” (debt collector) of the loan book on behalf of CONSUMER AUTO RECEIVABLES LIMITED.

These loans were sold at a stated 18% discount and FIRST CITIZEN FINANCE LTD will continue to collect 100% of the outstanding Facility, therein is the financial incentive for all concerned.

It is worth noting that the sale of the loan book took place to improve the Tier 1 Capital Reserves of PTSB proper, this makes me wonder was the bottom of the barrel exposed again? and does it remain exposed regardless of their statements to the contrary.

Anybody who has received one of these letters should question the legality of these third parties to collect, after all they are simply debt collection agencies which you have not agreed or consented to do business with!

How many people are paying because they didn’t read the letter properly or only saw the ” you do not have to do anything” part and said to themselves “phew” thank god, I don’t have to do anything! This is what the bank relies on and you have given them tacit consent!

QUESTION EVERYTHING!!!

Class Action by the People Against the Property Tax

Posted on 8:53 AM by Unknown

“A team of lay litigants are taking a class action challenging the Revenue/Irish Government on the legality, lawfulness and constitutionality of the property tax Called "Attack the Tax".. This is being ROLLED OUT, all over the country.
Basically a class action in the Republic cannot happen with a group of people unless they are a company......so in order to make this happen you simply pay €2 to become a shareholder. This legal/lawful challenge will be lodged in the high court, and while all this is going on the revenue can't touch those who are part of the action/legal challenge, this could go on for years and a good chance that the Government will be defeated. This is going to be a big spanner in the works for the revenue.......if more than 50% of people get involved in the case then the Gov./Revenue no longer have a mandate from the people to implement this unlawful tax.

People can become a part of this class action by simply signing up for it
Any action that will/can halt the psychopaths in this Government who masquerade as representatives of the people and who are clearly intent on stripping the wealth (that is if there is any left) from the people has to be worth getting on board.

.....we need to spread this to as many people as possible......we could get outside Post Offices for instance.....most people will gladly pay 2 euro to be a part of any challenge. The Irish Government are forcing in the property tax and threatening to get the revenue to snatch wages etc. from those who can't pay.....they are panicking now and they sound desperate to get the money from people, using the revenue as the big stick. They realise people won't register and won't pay or won't comply.... so they are resorting to threatening and bullying....but we all know what happens to bullies eventually. Get on board be part of history....stand up to tyranny!! attack the tax!

Canada's Greatest Defender of Freedom of Speech Has Died

A Life of Sacrifice and Idealism

By Michael Hoffman

www.revisionisthistory.org

Though it could have been from an assassin's bullet or a terrorist's bomb so virulent and persistent were the threats against him, Catholic attorney Douglas "Doug" Christie, Canada's premier defender of the damned, the marginalized and the downtrodden, has died at the age of 66 from cancer, which he had been batling for approximately two years. He worked virtually up to the time of his death. He is survived by his magnificent wife, Keltie, who shared in his battle for freedom, and two lovely children who are pursuing law and engineering careers, respectively.

Christie stood up for mostly indigent Canadian "thought criminals" who were victims of censorship and prosecution directed by a government-backed, misnamed "Human Rights" cabal which seeks to protect Judaism, Zionism and Holocaustianity from the same kind of scrutiny and skepticism which every other religion and ideology faces in the marketplace of ideas.

If the criminal and civil prosecution of heretical speech and press had been suffered by Zionists and rabbis  in Canada, the New York Times and Fox News would have been stuffed to the gills with regular reports and alarms. Instead, the whole sorry Orwellian ordeal of Canada's independent thinkers has been largely flushed down the memory hole by the U.S. corporate media, which are content to stigmatize and dismiss the dissidents Doug defended, as "anti-semites" and "Holocaust deniers," the better to deny their humanity in the name of human rights.

For truth seekers and lovers of liberty, the loss of Doug Christie is an incalculable one. His life of sacrifice and idealism is a shining paradigm. May he rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Their address is: Christie Family, Box 101, 255 Menzies Street,Victoria, BC V8V 2G6 Canada
Here below we reprint a tribute we published in 2011, when we first learned of his illness.

Battling Barrister: Canada’s Doug Christie

By Michael Hoffman | July 21, 2011

http://revisionistreview.blogspot.com/2011/07/great-holocaust-trial-defense-attorney.html

According to his wife, Keltie writing in her June, 2011 Friends of Freedom newsletter, 65-year-old Canadian Attorney Douglas Christie, the fearless barrister who so ably defended Ernst Zundel in two historic thought crime trials in Toronto in 1985 and 1988, has “prostate cancer of an aggressive grade that has already spread locally outside the prostate.”
Doug is one of the finest men and purest souls it has been my privilege to know. He went far beyond being Ernst’s attorney. He became his friend and a defender of the German people as a whole. In the course of the two trials he had to absorb thousands of facts, hundreds of books and dozens of maps, models and diagrams in order to defend Ernst to the best of his ability. He spent hours in court and then hours at night and on weekends studying with the Zundel defense team, led by Dr. Robert Faurisson of France. A lesser man would have been broken by the stress and the media libel. Doug relished the challenge and stepped into history’s spotlight chasing destiny.

With the brilliant and thorough organization so typical of Mr. Zundel, Doug’s daily after-court briefings in the basement of Zundelhaus were preserved on video. I have included highlights of those briefings in my documentary film, “The Great Holocaust Trial,” (not to be confused with the book of the same name).

After the Zundel trials, Doug continued his career as “the Clarence Darrow of Canada,” although he stands head-and-shoulders above Darrow, who in some respects was an opportunist (Darrow’s finest hour was his defense of Bill Heywood and the IWW in Idaho in 1907; his nadir was the 1924 Leopold-Loeb case).
Mr. Christie went on to represent dissidents, the marginal and the nearly defenseless. Among his most spectacular victories was the 1990 acquittal of Hungarian-Canadian restauranteur Imre Finta, who had been arrested on trumped-up war crimes’ charges. This was a huge setback for the same “Never Forgive” gang that on July 20, 2011, under color of law, desecrated the grave of Rudolf Hess in Germany (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-14232768). Talmudic vengeance knows no bounds! Doug was ably assisted in the Finta case by the equally courageous attorney Barbara Kulaszka.

Christie defended newspaperman Doug Collins, a heroic British-Canadian soldier who escaped ten times from German POW camps in World War II. Mr. Collins testified for and wrote columns on behalf of Mr. Zundel. Those columns led to his prosecution. Christie has also defended high school history teacher Paul Fromm, English anti-Talmud campaigner Lady Jane Birdwood, Internet activist Bernard Klatt, Marc Lemire, and dozens of other indigent and media-libeled victims of the new inquisition.

The Zionist lobby has had Mr. Christie in its sights for more than a quarter-century, but his record for probity was so impeccable they could find no pretext by which they could disbar or financially cripple him until 2007, when they were able to exploit a minor procedural technicality related to a law pertaining to “subpoena for documents.” The Law Society of masonic Canada ruled that this most honorable of all Canadian lawyers, in “improperly” processing the documents had been “dishonorable.” He was fined $20,000. He could not be disbarred on that basis alone however, and he continued his law practice.

Doug has given his life to the nearly thankless task of fighting for the free speech rights of everyone from Native Canadian David Ahenakew to a coterie of Christians, Germans, East Europeans, revisionists, skeptics and individualists who refused to be commissared. He has continued to press for justice in the case of Jeff Hughes, a confused and possibly mentally ill unarmed skinhead who was shot to death in 2009 by Canada’s “Mounties” for no discernible reason other than his politics. A case like this does nothing to burnish Christie’s career or fill his wallet. At the risk of sounding maudlin, Doug did it out of love for the memory of this young man who he met once and only briefly at the George Orwell Awards Dinner, which he and his wife host annually in British Columbia. Doug Christie is a traditional Catholic who cares more about living the Gospel than talking about it. The cause of justice for Jeff Hughes is but one example of his Christ-like conduct.

14 Week Suction Abortion.

In Ireland, Fine Gael and Labour are intent on legalising the murder of the unborn child. The abortionists know it is killing. Someone has to do it. It’s a profitable business. Those with an eye on making money will never allow the aborted child to go to ‘waste’. No. The pharmaceutical companies and cosmetic manufacturers benefit.

Do continue your prayers for Ireland. Next Saturday (23rd March), a rosary rally is taking place outside Leinster House in Dublin.

Press Release from Turf Cutters and Contractors Association

Posted on 5:20 PM by Unknown

http://www.turfcuttersandcontractors.com/

Fighting for YOUR right to cut Turf in the Republic of Ireland

Press Release

The news that four turf cutters have been sent summonses for doing what people have done for centuries is a final betrayal from a government which came to power on the back of a series of lies. As with so many organisations in the country the TCCA has been betrayed. The Taoiseach himself in a conversation with our Chairperson Michael Fitzmaurice in February of last year informed him that "turf cutters had been wronged". Well if that is the case then why make the same mistakes all over again. In fact our Taoiseach has gone so far as to describe our Chairperson as a "patriot". Our organisation happens to agree. He has however a funny way of treating a patriot.

The recommendations of Judge Quirks’ report on the peat lands forum have been ignored. He described turf cutters as "hardworking, decent, respectable and law abiding citizens". This is not how we are being treated.

The TCCA has painstakingly put together detailed proposals which were accepted by our members. These were passed by Dáil Eireann on March 7th of last year. They had previously been described by Minister Deenihan as "That's the way designations should have been done in the first place".

If the government wants this situation resolved it needs to start listening to "patriots" like Michael Fitzmaurice. It need to follow through on its commitments made in Dáil Eireann on March 7th last. It needs to really start listening to the stakeholders and to stop the intimidation and threats. After sixteen years and €750 million, successive government have failed to resolve a single bog with active turf cutters. At this stage it should have become obvious that the only way of resolving this issue is to work with the stakeholders.

Last year people were constantly warned that they would face penalties to farm grants and outright prosecution if they cut their turf. This did succeed in bullying some people into applying for the compensation package. However the majority resisted and at the end of what was an atrociously wet year 26 out of the 29 SAC bogs which had been cut in 2011 were subsequently cut in 2012. As is the norm in any given year there was less cutting on some of these bogs and on others there was more activity.

One such example of a bog where more turf was cut is Moanveanlough in County Kerry. This bog happens to be in the neighbourhood of Minister Jimmy Deenihan. The curious thing for turf cutters in this and many other areas is how so many have apparently taken compensation yet at the same time so many are still cutting turf. Moanveanlough bog is a good example of this. Even though more people cut turf in 2012 than in 2011, 27 are still recorded as having applied for compensation. So either the department are paying people who do not satisfy the criteria of the scheme or they are massaging the figured to make the compensation scheme appear more successful than it actually is.

We have as an organisation fought this battle through many different fora. We will now it appears fight it through the courts. As always we are ready for the battle.

The TCCA are now asking all politicians regardless of political persuasion to condemn the act of summoning ordinary decent people to court for doing what they have for centuries. We are also asking that government politicians, who got elected on the back of promises to turf cutters which have now been reneged upon, to resign with immediate effect.

Regardless of threats of state intimidation against its own citizens we will again this year continue to do what we have for centuries. We will when the weather permits be vindicating our rights. We will not be run off our lands.

Irish State Neglect of Bogs

Posted on 5:15 PM by Unknown

This is all very interesting.

“Total destruction of 80 acres of species protected in the Habitats Directive. This picture (and other pictures) clearly shows how this bog was "MANAGED" during their first year in charge of its protection by the NPWS. They appear to have no fire prevention or fire control plan for any of the 53 bogs. The NPWS did nothing about it like calling the fire brigade or putting out the fire. FIE conviently did not notice or report this disgraceful destruction during their much publicised fly overs and ariel pictures. It appears that FIE did not report this to the EU Commission or Jackson did not mention it at the EU petitions hearing. PRIVATELY OWNED PROPERTY at Redwood Bog, Co. Tipperary. This picture shows how the bog was managed last year by Minister Deenihan and the NPWS. They allowed 80 acres of protected species under the Habitats Directive to be destroyed while in their care. NPWS Ranger Eamonn Meskell is in charge of this bog. When this fire took place last June Meskell spent most of his time in Co. Galway trying to make criminals of his fellow bog owners. Minister Shatter allowed the Irish Air Corps to fly twice daily, every day over this bog with NPWS photographers on board. None of the state forces could call a fire brigade to put the fire out. Is this the management plan for protecting the 53 private property bogs under Deenihan and NPWS?

REDWOOD BOG Co. Tipperary. This bog is supposed to be in the hands of Jimmy Deenihan T.D. for protection. He thinks he can protect all the species listed in the Habitats Directive that are in this privately owned bog better than the people who own it. So he puts it in the hands of his little elves in the NPWS and puts Ranger Eamonn Meskell in charge of the job. Last June a fire burned for days in the bog as the picture shows. The Media asked Meskell why he did not deal with the fire and protect the species that he was supposed to be minding. Meskell replied "Can't go there PRIVATE PROPERTY". Last June, Meskell was too busy cutting turf on an active raised bog at Anaholty bog with a DIGGER and HOPPER for himself and trying his best to make criminals of his fellow turf cutters. So Deenihan now has this bog well protected with over 80 acres of the species he thinks he can protect gone up in smoke and he still thinks he can do it better than the owners who had kept it in such pristine condition. No sign of the so called environ - mentalists either, these wee fellas with the shiney wellies and clipboards.

Massimo Morsello, In Memoriam

Posted on 7:38 AM by Unknown

Today is the anniversary of the death of Massimo Morsello, a Traditional Catholic and Italian Nationalist Third Position activist. He was also a musician. Here is a tribute from Roberto Fiore, who co founded Forza Nuova with him.

Massimo Morsello

These words are certainly not enough to summarize what all those who knew Massimo Morsello, as a family man, as the captain of a great company, as a lowly waiter and taxi-driver, as a politician, or even as an opponent, remember during his final journey.
Politically active since the age of fourteen, he faced the difficulties of the time with a youthful zeal and humanity that, in time, would become proverbial. He lost his father at a young age and this served to propel him with even more determination and generosity into the political struggle of that period, which he expressed in the militancy of FUAN Via Siena.

Involved in the protests at Centocelle (which later led to his only conviction), he witnessed policemen, who still remain unconvicted, murder Alberto Giaquinto in cold blooded execution. His insistence upon giving evidence in a court of law resulted in the judges, with perverse logic, to issue a warrant for his arrest for 'subversive association'! As we have said that was his only conviction; a price to pay for loyalty to a comrade and to the truth.

In August, 1980, he began his Way of the Cross, arising from the arrest warrant that later ended in the dustbin of history. Morsello escaped from Italy and began to rebuild his life in London where economic hardship and menial jobs awaited, but he faced up to these difficult times with a moral vigour and a coherent ideal.

And there, with other comrades, he began a political, economic and spiritual adventure that would upset the rules designed by the will of corrupt political elites, and that would provide the opening words to a most amazing comeback of both a human person and of a political world.

Hounded, slandered, persecuted, the comrades in London sowed the seeds of a genuine economic, political and spiritual reconquest of which the fruits, in time, will be enormous.
The economic and managerial capabilities of Morsello, mirrored the best of Italian traditions. They created over time the largest company of its field in Europe; under the circumstances a true social and economic miracle.
Hundreds of families and individuals benefit from this project that as well as offering an interesting alternative economy, also provides a measure of the man primarily responsible for it.

The investment of funds and co-operative opportunities that allow employees and people close to the project to take advantage of its economic and social network are implemented in the Catholic Corporatist and Distributist spirit.
But then, during the years that the London operation began to take deep root the unfathomable divine plan made apparent the outbreak of cancer in Massimo.

In the political vacuum that was left in Italy came the creation of Forza Nuova, a movement that masterfully combines the best of the Fascist heritage and the Catholic vision of the world to new and modern circumstances.
It was also the time when Morsello took the decisive step of his life, returning with faith and humility to the Catholic Faith. Faith lived with consistency, rigour, but also with great humility and humanity. Massimo, until the very last remained faithful to the Tridentine Mass and unadulterated Catholicism, Roman and eternal.

The outbreak of the cancer coincided with the official launch of the political project in Italy, a work patiently developed over time. But Massimo never gave up or sought to sit back, or make excuses. His attitude toward the malady, light-hearted and virile, was summarized when he was informed of the frightening pace of the disease: "I do not care!"
And so towards the end of Massimo's earthly journey, times when the disease affected him ruthlessly, the response of Massimo continued to be dictated by an unshakable faith in Jesus Christ.

That faith accompanied his last moments and the decisive battle. His last words were: "I am ready ... I am ready. "
And the fighter who never knelt in front of anybody knelt to his only king, a king Who blessed Massimo Morsello with many gifts, whose inspiration will surely lead to many conversions, and perhaps with the honour of having contributed to the return of Jesus Christ to Italy and of Italy to Christ the King.
(Adapted from a tribute paid to Massimo by Roberto Fiore).

"Homeowners Cannot Expect to Stay in Houses"

Posted on 9:44 AM by Unknown

Via email

If You were not aware of this before ... then you are now. John Moran from the Department of Finance has stated quite categorically that "HOMEOWNERS Cannot Expect to Stay in Houses" ...he/they the State and the Puppet Government WILL BE making the People of this Island & that includes the much maligned "Tax Payer" HOMELESS ...

You cannot and should NOT ignore this ...  JOHN MORAN is attacking and threatening all of us with destitution.

This is the clipping from the "Irish Indo." today ... You will be turfed out on the street, and the Department of Finance, the State and the Puppet Government support these actions by the Banks and Revenue.

Tax Payers Are Next ...

In this artice John Moran is trying to discriminate between Tax Payers and Non-Tax Payers ... whereas, if you look at this logically and critically ... he is in fact telling all of the People Tax Payer on not ... YOU ARE going to lose your home, and John Moran does not care a fig

WE ALL need to learn to legally and lawfully deal with this one way or another.

Our next event is on: Sat. 16th. March

Location & Venue: Dublin - The Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, Naas Road, Dublin.

Time: 2pm sharp to 4pm.

Parking: Free and Secure.

Josephine Feehily more unpopular than Phil Hogan

Posted on 5:41 AM by Unknown

Josephine, who earns more than Michael Noonan has been tasked with taxing the family home. On a local radio station a politician stated 1.8 million households would receive letters whilst “over 1.6” is cited by other sources. Others are stating the figure is 1.6 million. Spin is expected. What we do know is there is widespread opposition to a tax on the family home.

Again we say no tax on the family home. No to the property tax.

Hundreds of people gathered in support of the Four Turf Cutters in Loughrea!

Posted on 10:14 AM by Unknown

This report is dedicated to the late Fr John Fahy (1893-1969).

It was a great honour to be in Loughrea earlier as over 800 people turned up in solidarity with the four turf cutters, who are standing up for what is right and oppose what is wrong.  Many turf cutters attended as well as people showing solidarity with the four men and upholding the right to cut turf on private property. Many travelled long distances to attend. Well done in particular to the group from Kerry.

Thought and Action wishes to thank the four men. Before court they were calm and composed. These four men are no criminals and an example to us all. They are standing up for the right thing. In the days ahead may they stay strong and as demonstrated today their morale is strong and people support them.

After the court case everybody marched through the streets of Loughrea. A bodhrán player lead the march and there was some song on the march. There was fantastic support from people. People waved and cheered from the doorways of shops and car horns were in use. School children waved from buses that passed by.

The case has been adjourned to the Galway Circuit Court on 10th April.

A cheer went up as the men left the court and were met with applause as they drove away.  A sincere word of thanks to the organisers of today’s very successful solidarity protest.  Do continue to support the four men and the turf cutters.

Here are some photographs.
